Charity is one of the four guiding principles of Freemasonry. We are one of the largest charitable sources in the whole country and here in the Durham Province we take great pride and satisfaction in the multiple charitable initiatives both local and national with which we are constanly involved.

Charity in our Province  is administered by the Durham Freemasons Charity whose committee consists of elected members from every Lodge in the Province.  As a charity with assets over £8m its running costs are relatively low due to the time and experience freely given by dedicated and enthusiastic Freemasons and the Provincial Office staff.  We have two flagship residential housing properties in Fulwell, Sunderland and at Bishop Auckland.

We support several charities at local and national level.

The Durham Freemasons Charity.

The Masonic Charitable Foundation: the Freemasons’ Charity.

The Royal Benevolent Institution.

The TLC (Tender Loving Care) Teddies.

The Masonic Fishing Charity.

The Freemasons’ Fund for Surgical Research.
